    Hey Reed,
I’ve been getting your newsletter and really enjoying them. I have a copy of BlogTactics already and find it very useful. It helped me to start my own blog http://www.reachsuccessonline.com – need to monitize it now.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Thanks for the mention Reed!

and good looking blog Luca, it’sgood to see my guide has helped!

the easiest way to start monetizing the blog is by working in some review posts of products you’ve tried and like, with an affiliate link.

    cheers,

@Luca thanks, congrats on creating your blog. For monetization you may want to look at some of the stuff I have in my sidebar, I have seen some money come in from that already.

@Matt you’re welcome, also thanks for mentioning me on your blog.

Not the product I used to get my blog up and running, but looks excellent and I’d highly recommend it beause.

    1. It’s for wordpress which is the most flexible of blogs and has some amazing free widgets available.

    2. It recommends cPanel which will help with your tracking of visitors.

    3. Fantastico – without that I might still be playing around with the code 3 months on.

    4. It’s video, and if we have to read for ourselves sometimes we don’t.

Some great blogging advice there Reed; thanks!

As far as good blogging platforms go, I would recommend that the new weblogger chooses WordPress over Blogger. The reason I say this is because WordPress blogs offer so much more versatility than the Blogger equivalent. More plug-ins, functions and greater options for self-expression and control!

When it comes to traffic numbers to your blog, I’ve noticed that Blogger does indeed net more visitors usually as they are owned by Google and have a large volume of users, users who check out other blogs on the site besides their own.

Many people seem to think that having a personalized domain for their blogs is vitally important but I feel that the generic naming offered (usually for free) can be adequate. Many world famous blogs have the ‘.blogspot’ extension, as an example, and they do not seem to suffer because of a supposed lack of creativity and individuality; Alexa rankings vouch for this fact!

Good luck with your blogging efforts and remember to update by posting frequently in order to keep your readers interested and eager to come back for more! Also, remember to ping your blog with services like Pingoat and Pingomatic, this informs the Net of your new content! If you are fortunate to have a WordPress blog, this function of ‘pinging’ is often carried out automatically!

Finally, for the serious blogger, set up an account at Technorati and examine closely all the benefits to the blogosphere that this great site offers! Try Digging your best blog posts to Digg.com for a bit of free traffic! You never know, you just might hit the home page at Digg and receive an extreme traffic spike to your weblog! Nice!

    Regards,
    Dave.

Having blogged successfully for several years now, I would have to say that setting up a blog needn’t be a difficult task, even for the beginner!

The first blog is always the most difficult to construct and the process after this does indeed become a lot easier, whether you grow your first weblog in to a larger concern or you decide to set up new blogs in different niches.

A working knowledge of HTML and java script can be invaluable but is not always necessary in order for you to blog successfully.

My greatest blogging coup has been obtaining the #1 world ranking on a very famous site called ‘Icon’ – this is a subdomain of Madonna.com and has a steady flow of ‘fan’ traffic!

My Icon blog was my first real blogging effort and I learned a lot from my mistakes as well as from my triumphs! When I cottoned on to the fact that my blog would be boring if I didn’t have ‘exit points’ and windows, things really started to take off! By linking my Icon blog to some of my websites and written articles, I began to make an income.

A direct link to my MySpace page and blog gave me several new contacts that I would otherwise not have had.

    To your blogging success!

    Kind Regards,
    Dave Braybrooke.
