Habits On The Road To Success

Setting your sights on accomplishing your goals is the first step you should take. Then, train yourself to do first things first. Develop the habit of working at the first thing on your list and not moving on until it is done. That habit will be the most important thing. Get things done.

Don’t worry about what comes next until that first goal, for the moment, is out of the way. Going through your list of steps one at a time leads you along the path smoothly and you will reach the end when everything has been done and your success is achieved.

You’ve got your goals set and decided you will succeed. Focus on that – ‘I will’. You will succeed. Your goals will be reached. Your life will straighten out and become what you want of it. Concentrate on that ‘will’.

Change your thinking to make your life work and set each step up as what has to be done, right now. Make it a habit to see that goal as the most important thing until it is finished. Other steps may be important, but they come later and can be thought of then. Your goal at the moment is to complete one step.

Each step you accomplish is another success in your life. You once thought of yourself as a failure? That’s gone. Each little step you manage to complete toward your goal is a success and you are a winner. Do it, now, and go on to the next step.

You can manage all this. The only price that needs to be paid comes out as effort, not money. You’ve got the desire, done the learning and are picking up even more as you go along. Get busy.

Make a list of what needs to be done and get started working on it. Just keep your mind open. Absorb all the knowledge you can, be open-minded. What you learn today might not help right away, but it could tomorrow or next week.

Find out everything and store it away until you need it as you work through things and acquire accomplishments and lessons on your way to success.

Each thing you learn brings you closer to success and I believe that everyone can succeed, with the proper training. It just seems so many who have acquired the right lessons don’t put them to use. They don’t develop the habits necessary to work their way down the path to their dreams.

What’s stopping you now? Lack of health seems to be the only reason why a person might not be able to succeed and even that can be beaten. People can overcome all sorts of handicaps. All you need is determination, grit, and the will to do it.

Grit and will can take you anywhere you want to go. The best asset anyone can have is will power. You can be poor today and be wealthy in just a short time, but your main asset will always be that will power, not money. Money is nice, but you can gain more with a strong will than you can buy with money.

Of course, you shouldn’t expect smooth sailing all the time, even if you’ve succeeded and developed the proper habits. Journeys always have rough patches. Go with them, work through all the troubles. Each one teaches you something new, even if you don’t succeed in overcoming them.

You can find a way around them, if nothing else seems to work. Don’t let them cause you to stop and fail. Concentrate on your successes and the pleasures of what you’re doing. They’ll appear again and your journey will smooth out.

Setbacks are another lesson. You’ll learn more as you struggle with them and gain more confidence as your successes grow and your life becomes what you dreamed. Each problem is a new lesson that helps you along. You’re succeeding and your goals are becoming realities.

Nice post 🙂 I agree, it takes a lot of effort but belief helps as well. I’ve been watching a dvd called “The Secret” every few days for the past several weeks and have found that it has helped me believe in my success. To everyone else out there: “Belief comes from inside you and only you”

I think without goals in your business or even in life doesn’t mean much.

I know when I first started out online, I never had no clear defined goals to accomplish. I relized that with a goal to strive for things become manageable.

Now that I have certain goals I can plug them off one by one.

Nice post Reed it makes a lot of sense.

I agree, completely. There are so many things to do, that we can become overwhelmed. But, if we take it one step at a time, we’ll get much more done.

Great post, PV. The key word is “FOCUS”. I hear lots of gurus saying “just take action” (which is vitally important), but it has to be focused action. There are very things you can do in one moment and walk away knowing it’ll hum along. The key things require action, repetition, and perseverance. Focus!

    Hello PV,

Everything you said makes perfect sense. I’m a believer in setting goals and having a plan to achieve them.

I will admit that it’s very easy to get distracted and lose focus when we are constantly bombarded with “the next big thing”. Once you learn to overcome information overload, it’s much easier to work your plan and attain your goals.

    Reed,

For years I used to fight creating goals, mainly because I couldn’t figure out why they work.

Then a friend said, they work because we are humans are built to survive and not succeed at a higher level than our comfort zones.

Post a slightly out of reach dollar goal on paper and make sure your eyes run across that page at least twice a day and just watch what happens..

It’s amazing what happened when I just did it.

And of course having a date on the goal is important too.

Great post. Thanks for the reminder about the importance of goal setting to me.

    Cheers,

    Rob

    Thanks for this article.
It let me think about some months ago, when I was tempted to leave internet marketing forever.

It was like running slowly in a world that ran 10 times faster than you.

Finally I won, because I make order in my life finalizing some neverending projects.

The first of them got a discreet success making me happy, while the second I’m working on in these days is an unexpected JV with a great Internet Marketer.

Is necessary to let the world of Internet Marketing (as the other in which you are involved) run alone.

YOu need to focalize on your own projects and finish them in the correct order.
Only these actions can save you from confusion and no success at all.

    Thans again and Goodbye.

  • Great info Reed. I’m a hard worker, but I learned early on that internet marketing requires so much more than hard work. It requires focus and persistence in accomplishing the baby steps. There are just too many “good” opportunities and systems, so the temptation to jump from one thing to another without every achieving any significant success is challenging. I finally learned how to keep things simple.

Your post is an important call to focused action. The temptation is to keep acquiring resources and knowledge and take no action.

PV, your focus on goals and first steps is a way to overcome the inertia of fear and anxiety. It also helps to overcome the distraction of never-ending emails and new product releases.

I’ve started asking myself each day – “What is the one thing I want to achieve today towards my goal?”…and then I focus in on that, whether it’s an article, blog post, new Squidoo lens. a video or whatever. I give this one thing priority and reading email, etc has to then fit into the time available. In this way, I get small successes every day and, as you suggest, move closer to my goal.

Thanks for writing this post. I agree completely that you must concentrate on one thing at a time. If you aren’t doing this then you will waste a lot of time and accomplish very little. I find that if I make a list at the end of the day for what I need to do the next day that it makes things a lot easier. I simply list tasks in order of priority… first, second, and so on. This helps me to finish each task first, and when the day is done, I can look back and see what I accomplished! I plan to post your artcle on my blog, because I know it will help others too.

Yes right on the money. I worked in the off-line World of Sales for 25 years and the principles are just the same. Break your goals down into achievable steps, only move onto the next step when you have completed your current step to 100% of your current ability.

This doesn’t mean that you might not want to re-address those same steps at a later date when you have an increased ability. Just don’t let it stop you from getting things done from the place that you are at now.

    It’s called continual self improvement.

    Regards – Graham Price.

Great post. It’s true that it all starts with a possitive mindset and set goals. The goals however need to be clear and attainable not just “I want to make money online” Once you have clear goals you can set the habit as you say to take action in a focused way

    Hi…
Very good article, and very necessary.
Most people think that setting goals is the wish-list. Like “someday I want to be a millionaire” while that CAN be a goal, it has to have more substance to it, the second part being, “… by making my business a success by doing…” Now, you have a goal. Then the rest of the goal, is the smaller goals along the way to get to the major goal.
When people come and ask me for help in their online businesses that aren’t going anywhere, I usually find the major problem is lack of goal setting, planning and thus focusing.
    Thanks for this article.
