How To Make Money with Back End Affiliate Marketing

When an affiliate refers a customer to his website and makes a sale, the merchant who owns the website will also make money. This is great for the merchant and affiliate as well. The merchant has to make no effort to earn his money or spend money for advertising. The affiliate has no money invested in the product but he still makes a commission for selling it. This is a win, win situation.

Back end selling is something both the affiliate and merchant should consider if they want to try and make the most profit from their business. It will allow the business to expand and lead to more sales and greater profits in the future. Back end selling and affiliate marketing go hand in hand to create big profits.

When a customer buys from you for the first time, this is a sale. A back end sale is when the same customer buys from you again. It is easier to market to someone who has already bought something from you. Giving customers good service in the initial sale will help ensure that you get repeat orders from them. Show them you can be trusted. Building a good customer base is very profitable in affiliate marketing. A buyer will be much more likely to buy a different product from you instead of buying it from someone they have never dealt with before.

Back end selling is something that has been successful for years in both online and offline business, so be sure to follow up and keep track of all your customers. Have them agree to receive email announcements from you about new products and alerts about price reductions and special sales you may have.  Your increased profits will make you glad you did.

You must introduce your customer to your other products otherwise he may buy them elsewhere. If he does not know what you have a product he is interested in he won’t think about buying it from you. Build a foundation of confidence and trust with your customers for repeat sales and ensure your business will grow bigger instead of stagnating and eventually dying.

Back end selling is very important in affiliate marketing. It will help you achieve huge success in your business. This system has proved to be very effective in marketing, meaning bigger profits and long term success in your venture. Hundreds of companies have become very successful using this technique.

  • Hey Reed,

Well said, finally touching on the major aspect and reason for list building! Indeed, building a list is so important to increase the exposure a prospect can have to a product you sell on backend.

Traffic is hard enough to find and by capturing the customer into your list, you have a buyer’s list which is worth gold to any marketer. Once the trust is build, repeat business will be easier.

    Hi Reed,

Back end sales mean you have to perform a very good customer service. Your customer trust you because you are not hit n run salesperson. Your product is useful because you guide the customers how to use your product to get result. Otherwise, nobody will buy from you again.

Yes Reed, I couldn’t agree more with you, but getting that first sale can be quite a job, so it’s good to explore different techniques that can be beneficial like using the same marketing ideas that the big supermarket chains use to entice and draw in new customers.
Trust is a hard thing to gain and i think takes a while to build up, after all if nobody knows you then they’re not going to buy.

Have a great Conference, i will keep my fingers crossed for you that you don’t need to make a sharp exit. Best Wishes

Back end selling operates best when the merchant drops all pretense and focuses on the needs of the customer. Seriously, it isn’t the quality of your products that captures long-term purchasers; even though quality does count, most people will return to a business if they are treated well and are made to feel good.

Be sincere, helpful, flexible and interested in your customers and they will return again and again!

This is exactly what all the fuss has been about recently with Mike Filsaimes Traffic Fusion product.

A great example of a merchant that uses this type of tactic on you without you probably realising it is amazon .com (other peolple that bought this product.)

Well Mike learned his tricks and tips from a Mr Mark Joyner and the books you want to take the time to read on this subject are “The Great Formula” and “The Irresistable Offer”.

They are about 200 pages each worth the investment of your time.

    Hey Reed,

Nice information, and good things to keep in mind for those starting out. Don’t get too caught up in chasing new customers too fast, because once a customer, if you make them repeat, and continue the relationship, they are more likely to trust buying from you again.

Hope all is well with the expected delivery!

@Davion thanks, yeah I hope this inspires people to build their list

@John for lack of a better word this industry is very “incestuous” meaning it’s all you scratch my back I’ll scratch yours a lot of our lists have the same people on them.

    @TrudyVan thank you

@Larry an immediate backend sale such as an upsell is one of the best and easiest sales you can ever make. this technique alone can make you a fortune

@serengin very good points as long as you can make your customers feel like the know, like and trust you. in other words you have built a relationship full of trust and come off as someone who is their guide/friend/mentor that will really change how much money you make

@Bill any easy way to make that first sale is to have a nice discount or have a low price point. For instance at Jeff Mills’ seminar today I spoke on joint ventures and offered my coaching program. Before I finished talking I had made atleast 11 sales. This was due to 1. giving out killer content. 2. showing LIVE proof it works 3. giving a $100 discount to the first ones who buy. that made them compete with one another and the back of the room was just packed before I even got off the stage.

@William for me the best was has been to do joint venture giveaways and invite a bunch of marketers to contribute a product here’s a program I use for that http://www.giveawaymanager2.com/members.php?id=1800

@David excellent points; I think a lot of people will buy a product simply on the fact that it makes them feel good to help out someone who has helped them

@Kenny excellent points. Mark is definitely a mentor to Mike and myself and many others he is quite the inspiration and really a good friend to have, I’m very thankful.

@Delords thank you glad to help

@Paul thank you, I’ll keep you posted, so far no signs.

@How To thanks for the trackback

Again with good info from one of the best. As with any business the affiliates are important as well as keeping track of them Whoever says that one hour a day will do it is pure nuts. It takes work to automate things and affiliates are like the helping hand that show up at the right times.

Back end products make the huge difference between Super Affiliate and other affiliate marketers.

Super Affiliate will promote their back end products to their customers. And usually back end products are higher price items and of course they will make higher profits.

“This is exactly what all the fuss has been about recently with Mike Filsaimes Traffic Fusion product.”

You missed the apostrophe there, but I dither. I wonder if Mr. Filsaime actually will be opening Traffic Fusion up again for sales after these 2000 units are sold out. I just got an email warning that there are, and I quote, “less than 194 left”. What is less than 194, though? 72? 3?

Traffic Fusion certainly looks like a valuable tool, that’s for sure. So many bonuses . . . more confusion?

Anyway, great article, Reed. Common sense is always good for knocking one’s head against again. Cheers for the opportunity.

    Reed,

I think backend sales are rarely ever explained to newbie affiliates so they miss out greatly on additional income.

Developing a relationship with our lists is critical so that these backend sales can take place and the affiliates can stop leaving money on the table.

Thanks for bringing this to the forefront.
