Learning to Drive Your Laser-Targeted Traffic Using Yahoo Search Marketing

When you are thinking about online business applications, particularly with regards to affiliate marketing, you already know that having no traffic means having no sales.  When you take a look at what affiliates and web masters are spending large wads of cash on, you will find that a lot of goes towards getting better rankings on the Yahoo and Google search engines.  If you have a product or a service that you are promoting with a web page, you know that you need to get more traffic if you want to see more sales, and this is one of the most basic and most important rules about affiliate and online marketing.  If you can get off to a good start and if you know what is going on, you’ll be able to make some good money and earn some success, no matter what mistakes you make at the beginning.

Looking at the people who have made a serious name for themselves out there, you will see that getting highly targeted traffic is the key to getting the success that you need when it comes to affiliate marketing.  This method is something that is ideal if you are looking to resell products  online or promote them, and you’ll discover that you can make a lot of headway by paying for performance.  This means that you are only paying for results that are measurable in real sales and better income and profit.

Take a moment to think about how this might apply to you.  When you are only paying for performance, you may be giving a commission to a salesman who has actually made a sale.  This ensure that you are not investing money in something that is not doing you a lick of good and that you are rewarding the people who really work for you.  Remember that when you are worried about advertising that every bit of money that you put into it has to go somewhere and that it really needs to “earn its keep!”

When you want to make to make sure that you have the sales that you need and to become a success in affiliate marketing, you will find that drawing laser targeted sales with the use of Pay Per Click search engines, also known as PPCSEs, might be the most important things that you will do.

Taking a look at Yahoo Search Marketing, you will find that it claims to be one of the Internet’s best PPCSEs around.  It has a reputation as one the world’s best resources for pay for performance search on the web, and you will find that it will cross reference your work on different search engines like Infospace, MSN, Netscape, Altavista, Lycos and of course Yahoo.  This will give you access to to reaching more than 80% of all active internet users.

With Yahoo Search Marketing and other PPCSEs like it, you will find that you are getting exactly what you are paying for.  You’ll find that this gives you an excellent opportunity to get to where you are going with your career goals and that in addition to that, you are going to be inhabiting your own niche very thoroughly.  With Overture, you will be bidding on various keywords that have to do with your business.  The more precise the keyword is, the better your results on getting relevant traffic to your site is going to be, and the less every sale is going to cost you in advertising revenue.

You are going to be kept away from keywords that are too common and too general, and you will find that you need to think about making sure that you are not going to be casting a very wide net.  You’ll find that getting less traffic, but having it be  highly interested in what you are doing is much better than getting lots of traffic that stays for a moment, eats up your bandwidth and leaves.  You are going to be getting more customers overall who have a strong interest in your work.

You will also discover that Yahoo Search Marketing permits your visitors to comment on what you are doing and what they are buying.  This goes a long way towards getting you customers that will be with you for a lifetime and who will by from you time and again.  You’ll find that one time sales are less useful when you are looking to build up a longtime client base, and with PPCSEs, you’ll discover that you are going to get your site visitors to sit up and take notice. You will have a market that you can constantly sell to!

When looking at Yahoo Search Marketing, you will also soon discover that you can use an important backup response that will allow you to track down the people who almost bought your product.  You need to make sure that the people who came to your site once have a reason to come back again and in order to this, you will find that you need to market to them and to offer them reasons to come back until they are willing to buy.  You can send them a free email newsletter, or you can give them a free catalog or a place in a sweepstakes.  You can offer them limited-time promotions.

To get those life long customers that you need, you will find that you can give some added benefits for your long term customers  Pass out seasonal and special offers whenever the opportunity rises and take some time to make sure that you are giving them valued customer discounts.  Remember that you are looking to create a trust-based relationship that will really let them know what you are doing when you are considering your options.

Finally, remember that more than other technique out there, paying for performance will give you exactly what you put into it.  Use laser targeted traffic to make sure that you are going to get the results that you need and make sure that you look into how powerful conversion through PPCSEs like Yahoo Search Marketing can be!

    I think a lot of people can not see the benefit from doing PPC marketing. Most of the time they choose the wrong keyword combinatiobs and end up spending more money and not making enough to cover their ROI.

    I have personally done this myself and learned a valuable lesson. Do you keyword search properly the first time to get maximun benefit from it.

    I would love to learn how to do PPC. So far, my efforts have done nothing but lost me money. Not only do you have to do the right keyword research, you also have to know how to write effective ads.

    Maybe it’s just trial and error, which would be fine if it weren’t so easy to lose lots of money. PPC still appeals to me though because it’s possible to get quick results. So, i’ll keep learning.

    I have no idea what that other guy is saying but anyway people nowadays talk about google this and google that but don’t about Yahoo’s ppc program is not dead yet and so many people are still using it.

    Also there are keywords that are much cheaper in Yahoo compare to google. So if you want to save money and reach a huge targeted audience, there are other options out there besides google adwords.

    Good on ya for bringing that up.

    I think you have touched on a key point in marketing, but you grossed over one thing. The relationship. Sure if you want short term gains, that is fine, but long term pain can insue without creating the relationships. You have the blogs, and those are key towards,establishing that, you also have been generous in offering ebooks, and insight.Ppc is part of a strategy, not the cure-all. One thing you did mention is focusing marketing. One of the things that gets missed on Google is the closer you get to the words that actually create sales the more you may have to pay for those words. The generalized searches are cheaper because they are on the outer ring. I visited a site recently http://www.internetmarketingmuscle.com it’s a good read. Have a great day.

    I haven’t tried YSM but I have tried MSN PPC and I have to say it is a pain in the ass to not fall foul of their editorial guidelines. I have used the same ads and keywords I used in Google Adwords but MSN don’t allow them because of some obscure reason.

    I have always been interested PPC advertising but have been scared off by what I’ve read about the big money losses. Also there is so much click fraud associated with PPC advertising. There are programs that people with these types of ads on their sites join and click on each other’s ads to make money, which costs the advertiser huge money losses and no sales.

    Personally I don’t have the kind of money it takes to be successful with PPC ads, and we all know it takes money to make money. There’s no way of getting around that. But targeted traffic how ever and where ever you can get it is the only way to fly if you can afford PPC ads then go for it, definitely.

    Hi Reed,

    I think that PPC is a good way to get traffic quick.

    The point here is that you have to know how to play this game because it is a very dangerous game that can break your heart and bank account if you don’t know how to play it the right way.

    If you don’t have experience with PPC I suggest you start with some of the smaller search engines – 7search.com, kanoodle.com, etc, and when you learn how it works then you go to Yahoo and Google.

    Thanks,

    Hi Reed,

    PPC marketing can be very effective but also very expensive. I have never used it and probably never will. There are lots of other Free and Inexpensive ways to get traffic and although they may not be as targeted as PPC’s, they still produce results that can be very profitable. Sure, they may take more time and research, but when working from home, I find having lts of extra time for research etc. is only one of the many benefits.

    Hallo Reed,
    Tks for the content. PPC is getting the cash, keywordresearch. The combination to have your stats about use of the best keywords at Yahoo or MSN or Google then place your ads play with the costs what you want to pay for an ad and start placing. There is also a nice trick to get ads for free and you have only profits period. Try to find it.

    Really interesting that you posted about Yahoo PPC as I always only hear about Google PPC. I have not ventured to try either due to the many horror stories I have read about people losing their shirts trying PPC.

    Perhaps I will check into Yahoo PPC since you mention that at times for the same keywords they can be cheaper than Google. This is good to know.

    Hi Reed,
    Thanks for the update email.
    This post is one that I have questioned for a number of years and have neither tried google or yahoo as I feel that if you do your work properly (web page, search engines, auto responders, emails, products or info, your goals, short & long term, time limits, finances & their limits, outsourcing plans & actions, good hosting, catchy Domain name, plus a heap more things but most of all YOUR ATTITUDE.
    If your attitude is not right then many of these things fall flat and you do not make any money. Positive attitude no matter how bad things seam will come through in your voice, emails, even your scripts be it on the web, e-Book or blogs.
    OK you are not making any money. Ask yourself why?
    If you are not getting many visitors to your site the same question WHY?
    Get a friend to look at one thing at a time or even a stranger; maybe the gas man when he comes to read your metre. Schools are another place to go or the library. Newspapers sell even though some of them do not use the spell check or put the right caption to a picture. Why? They are giving the public something they want even if it is flawed.
    Make sure you do not forget to check your site for things that are displeases to the eye.
    Remember that you have to have your finances sorted and labeled before you try any of these great helpers and they are just that. Helpers that cost you, but as Reed has explained as well as the others on this blog learn the right way before you spend a dim on any advertising there are many ways to do this FREE until you know what you are doing.
    Thanks for this item Reed it has shown quite a few things that are there if they are implemented properly.
    Take care all

    I have not used pay per click yet. It can get you targeted traffic which is good, but you have to monitor your results so that you do not overspend. The best situation is to have an ideal niche. I have a friend that is number one with Google as there is virtually no competition for him, with no cost for advertising. I also like the idea of blogging for free traffic. This will be one of my next projects.

    It’s all too easy to forget thay there are other search engines besides the mighty Google, so a timely reminder – thanks Reed. In my view PPC should form a part of an overall traffic generation strategy, along with blogging, article submissions etc..

    Almost as useful as your posts are the comments; there is a large community who need help with their marketing and your posts are a great resource.

    @Bruno yeah I think a lot of people have made that mistake or in other words had that learning opportunity 🙂

    @The Beast what are you talking about?

    @Jennifer keep learning and trying a lot of people will still run campaigns that just break even or even lose some money because they are able to make money from the list

    @Paul thanks, yes there’s a lot more to the internet then just Google

    @Tripti agreed nobody really has overnight success

    @Michael yes I agree relationships are really big especially online now.

    @Tripti nice to see you reaching out to help Jennifer with PPC

    @Timothy thanks

    @Terrance that’s unfortunate 🙁

    @Thomas thanks, it was a long road to get to this point.

    @Barb one thing you can do with PPC is limit the amount you spend each day.

    @PV you bring up a good point there are a ton of smaller PPC search engines that could make someone money

    @Wayne yes working at home can give you a lot of free time but time and money are a difficult balance oftentimes now I’d rather just pay someone then do the work myself

    @Peter yes it’s nice that you can make an ad profitable somewhere and then try it on another network and you can see similar results

    @Michael keep us posted

    @James & Helen you’re welcome

    @Chris keep us posted

    @Dale asking yourself “Why?” is very important

    @normz2 keep us posted

    @Jussi Christmas can be very profitable and it’s still early enough for a lot of us to take advantage of it. I think it’s like 50 days away or something

    @Richard thank you

    @Geoff thanks for your insight on Yahoo; I tend to agree Yahoo seems to run itself like a really big corporation or government and I can see why they are huge.

    Thanks Reed, it is refreshing to hear that Yahoo is also a good option to check out since all we seem to hear about is Google these days although that is an option to check out as well.

    I myself have been afraid after hearing how people have lost tons of money on their ppc campaign but have since learned you don’t have to if you just make sure to set a daily limit you can afford to spend and just keep an eye on how it is doing and stop it as soon as you find it isn’t profitable.

    I hope to put a small ppc campaign on with very small limit set just to get my feet wet and get more comfortable with the idea of using ppc and driving targeted traffic that way.

    I definitely prefer Yahoo PPC to Google. Google costs too much, and Yahoo! and MSN are nearly completely ignored. Google does get more traffic, but it is far too competitive. I am generally more interested in free methods of driving traffic to my site, but if I do use PPC I always use Yahoo or MSN.
