How to Become an Overachieving Super Affiliate

The online business world can seem like a confusing place if you have no previous experience in it. You might find yourself staring blankly at your screen, trying to decide which online business would be best for you. Why not try affiliate marketing?

Affiliate marketing is a revenue sharing agreement between merchants and affiliates. This is a low cost way to for merchants to advertise their products and services online.

This is an online business which involves very little risk since you only have to pay affiliates once they get the results you want. After a customer makes a purchase, signs up for an email list or whatever the condition is that you have set, only then is the affiliate paid. Generally, affiliates get a commission for the referral of leads, clicks or (most commonly) sales to the merchant. The compensation plan for affiliates can be either in the form of a fixed fee or a percentage of sales.
With this simple commission based system, some affiliates do quite well, with some making five figures (or more) each month! Out of the thousands of marketers out there though, less than five percent manag to achieve on this level. If you are one of the small number who has managed to make this kind of success of your affiliate marketing business, congratulations! You are now a super affiliate.

This denotes that you have the skills needed to get a sizable amount of sales or traffic referred to the merchant. A super affiliate is a search engine optimization expert and also someone who is highly skilled at marketing with newsletters, email, forums and building reciprocal links as well as other methods of promoting the merchant’s products and services.

And just how can you become one of these super affiliates? And how do you go further and overachieve your way to super affiliate stardom? It’s not easy and it will take some time to get there. Remember that you’ll have to use some marketing tools and tactics, manage some successful advertising and marketing campaigns and put in a lot of your own time and effort – without this, you’ll never become a super affiliate.

Carrying out your affiliate marketing strategies can present a challenge, but you can do it if you go about things the right way. You need to first find a niche which is not already crowded with other affiliates and focus your efforts there. One of the reasons that a lot of affiliate marketers fail to thrive is that they try to offer too many different and unrelated products instead of focusing on a niche market. Becoming a super affiliate means focusing on your niche and growing your business by doing a great job of advertising and selling it to the best of your abilities.

Once you do this and build your website, the next step is to promote your business. A lot of affiliates use pay per click engines; but it is even better to find ways to get traffic organically or better still, to have a search engine marketing expert do this for you. This will save you from spending your profit margin on pay-per-click engines.

You then have to familiarize yourself with the product – and the target market. You need to build credibility with this market; which you can’t do a very good job of if you don’t know the product inside and out. If you can’t get your target market to trust you, how can you expect them to buy something based on your recommendation? If you take some time to really learn your products, you will have a much easier time being successful with an affiliate marketing business.

You should try to promote products from several different merchants; this is a way of broadening your customer base and generating multiple revenue streams. Besides this, you will be giving your visitors a few possible destinations to choose from when they navigate away from your site. It can also help you to evaluate what your audience is most interested in and how well different merchants stack up against each other.

An affiliate who aspires to super affiliate status should possess a thirst for knowledge – he or she should always be on the lookout for the latest developments and the best ways to promote their products and services. If you’ve been in internet marketing for a while, you already know that what is big now may not be in a few months’ time. So stay in top of the market trends every day – a super affiliate always keeps informed about the latest developments in the world of online marketing.

The most important part of being successful in this business is persistence. Making a success of your affiliate marketing venture is tough; so you need the willingness to stick with it. Keep an eye on your statistics and be ready to step up the things that work for you – and ditch the things that don’t work so well.

These are just a few of the things you need to know if you want to make more money in affiliate marketing. You need patience, persistence and knowledge. By following the strategies I’ve given you here, you’ll find yourself on your way to super affiliate stardom.

Hey Reed, You are right, there is a lot of money to be made in affiliate sales but there is also
much more competition. It is a good Idea to run
several similar items at the same time and see which one is producing then dump the rest. I believe Article marketing is much more effective
than PPC, and cheaper! If you want Targeted traffic than Article marketing is the way to go.
Have a wonderful Day. Timothy Millar

  • Thanks for a great post Reed.
Patience and persistence are definitely two of the traits that are required for anything in life, let alone a successful internet business.
To be able to have a rifle barrel focus, as this will separate the winners from the triers, and also to avoid the information overload disease, which all of us have suffered from at some point in out internet business.
Look forward to your continuing help and support Reed, Thank you.

    Hi Reed,
I enjoyed your blog even though it reminded me of how I may have given up to soon on my Mentors program. I read another blog by Jim Brown with a similar theme. Don’t give up when things get rough. I won’t let that happen again thanks to the support I find in blogs like yours. Thanks again.

    Hi Reed,

You really touched very important points here.

Affiliate marketing is very competitive, many affiliates are failing everyday because they don’t put all it takes to be successful.

If you don’t work hard your competitors will put you out of business sooner or later.

It takes sacrifice, effort and dedication. When you put all this into you business you’ll see results… never give up if you are making no money, just keep working.

Most people give up too early, just keep persevering, then when you see the first results you get excited, you want to learn more and you do more, at this point everything becomes easier and everything flows better.

    Thanks,

Reed, I like the Ewen Chia super affiliate training material. He seems to always create lists and do autoresponder follow up in the affiliate marketing process. Also, consistency and congruence in your image, like branding yourself with that specific niche list.

Thirst for knowledge! That is key in internet marketing. The you need to put your time and effort and passion in to it. I’ve seen many people generate little extra income from the net, but without generating actual sales or leads even clicks (meaning they’ve been paid per view), I don’t believe that can be the trend for long.

Reed, How to Become an ‘overachieving’ Super Affiliate? Simple Principle: INTEGRATE with the existing web of links. That is, get your material linked to on web 2.0 sites and as many blogs as possible. I post on Digg and Reddit and Stumbleupon, then turn round and promote those pages, integrating them into every social bookmarking site. Still waiting for results. Google takes about 4 months.
