How To Write Your Resource Box For Successful Article Marketing

The internet informational highway. This is a time honored phrase, and it should be nominated for the Internet Cliché Award. Many individuals go the internet or online to search for information, however, they are subdivided into groups. Whether their interest lies in business, how to, gaming, fun or any other type of information that is beneficial to them.

Search Engine Optimization is one of the best secrets learned by many individuals in these past few years. More and more websites have noticed the effects of articles for driving traffic to their sites. While many have even created sites entirely devoted to providing articles that can be accessed by their viewers as well as the links that can lead to various other sites, which relate to the subjects or topics of their articles.

For instance, these sites may feature various articles concerning a great deal of subjects. At the end of these articles is a resource box that can be clicked on, which then links them to the site of the submitted article, featured on these websites. The article, of course, relates to the site, for instance if the article is about rotating your tires, the resource box might lead to a site link of someone selling tires or car accessories.

The resource box is generally found at the articles end, they provide such information as the authors name and a brief description of the author as well as that of the sponsoring link website. When readers are interested, they generally have the tendency to go to the clickable site and find out more. Readers can go to the website and do more research or reading on the topic or subject of interest, since the resource box is the link to the source of the articles they read.

The resource box, much like the article, must appeal to the eye, while demanding interest and the attention of the reader. Sure, the resource box is small, however, by providing the proper keywords and content, your resource box can prod the reader on to visiting the site.

Now that we understand resource boxes, how is having a good resource box beneficial? Its objective is to drive traffic to your website. Articles are placed on various sites, in order to fill their pages, while they may also affiliate with other similar sites that are beneficial to them as well. You can generate traffic of potential consumers for a sponsoring site, when you appeal to various individuals to click on your resource box.

What is good resource box content? Keywords. Learning about the keywords that many individuals are searching for. You will find there are various tools online that aid you in choosing the best useable keywords.

Make use of all your creativity in your resource box, since it is a limited space, you should make the most of it. Capture the attention of your readers with a content rich resource box, that draws them in for a better look. You do not have visual aids, to drive home your point as you do with television ads. However, you do have the power of imagination, and with the right content, you can captivate the thoughts of your readers.

Always use keywords that relate to your website, you should never mislead your prospective site visitors. You can appeal to more viewers, by building your reputation and they will be happy to browse your offers. Providing good resource box content makes a lasting impression, which is appealing to many individuals who may click your resource box. You have only one chance to catch them and hundreds of chances to turn them off.

The power of your resource box should never be underestimated. Sure, it may be small, however, they are a beneficial aid when driving traffic to your website. Boring resource boxes are dull and never can get the traffic you deserve. You can show that you have a great deal to offer, by being fun and creative. Is this too much to ask for something the size of a paragraph? Well, yes and no. However, there are various online guides and tips that are useful in learning how to do this. The first step however, is in realizing just how important your resource box can be when appealing to individuals and their clicking your site link.

Great tips Reed! I have seen a lot of terrible resource boxes. In fact, I have written a few myself. But I am getting better at it, and I am now going to use this post as a reference. Thank You very much Reed!

Thought the whole idea was to tease, get the reader to click through? Not by being interesting, or stuffed with keywords, but by somehow inferring the reader will find what they are looking for if they click through to the author’s site.

    Could you cover that please?

I find that spending a little bit of time writing out a great resources box can make you go a long way. I’ve seen many resource boxes that were not to well written.

    Hi Reed,

Thanks for these great tips. I also really appreciate Shawn’s honesty and can say the same of myself.

The crafting of a good resource box is a skill in itself. And the difficulty that individuals face when they first start writing articles is that they are often given the wrong advice regarding what to include in the resource box.

Many people think that the resource box is just a bio about the author but in reality the resource box should be an extension of your article. It should entice the reader to learn more about the subject of your article by clicking the link to your special offer.

Ideally, your article should flow virtually seamlessly into your resource box. Writing resource boxes with a high click-through rate is not just a skill, it’s an art.

Reed there is no doubt the resource box is a crucial aspect to any article. After the people read the article, of course you want them to visit your website!

Some people have resources boxes converting at 5%, while others convert at 30% or more! Six times the amount of traffic for one article just because of a killer resource box!

    As always a great post,

    Well said, Reed.

Infact the body of the article is the ‘give’ part of the article and the resource box the ‘take’. Hence one cannot simply ignore the importance of the resource box.

Otherwise the whole purpose of the article is defeated.

    Good article Reed !

Signature lines plays such an important role than the article itself. It does take practice and tracking skills to see which sig lines works.

Since Reed didn’t give an example I will provide one for those who are new to IM.

Let say you are writing about a review about a newly launched program. Submitted it to as many article database site as possible using 2 different sig lines.

One sig lines says something like ” If you want more detailed info about this program visit http://www.yourwebsite.com

Second sig lines says something like ” If you want to find out how I make $200 per month selling this product, visit my website at http://www.yourwebsite.com

Now if the second sig line is getting twice as many clicks as the first one, then you back and simply change the one that doesn’t work with the one that works. Then you keep using the one that works and keep submitting it to more article database site or pay a service to publish them for you such as Isnare.com

    Take care.

When I write a resource box for my clients’ articles, here are a few things which I do to increase the click through rates.

    1. Resource box must have a call to action. Let them know what benefits they will receive when they click on the link.

    2. Tell them that they will see a video or videos of the techniques related to the article content. A link to see a video converts very well for all articles.

    3. Tell them that they will receive a free report that is related to the same topic they read in the article. If they liked your article, then they would definitely click to download your free report.

    4. Tell them they can read part 2 of your article by clicking on the link in the resource box. Or parts 3 and 4 etc….

    5. If you are talking about the problem in your article and recommend a solution, then in the resource box, tell them to click on the link to know more about the solution.

Having a resource box is not just about keywords and anchor text. You need to drive them to a squeeze page to capture their emails. This is the true power and benefit of article marketing which you will experience if you do things correctly.

    Hi Reed,

    It is a great point.

Having a great resource box is crucial. Here’s where say to your readers what to do.

Most people do this wrong. The resource box is not about the author, it is about the readers.

I agree with the fact that you have to say who you are, but the most important thing is that you have to tell your readers that they should visit your site because they can benefit from it – you are giving away a free report or a video, or whatever.

    Thanks,

Alan I agree with you completely about what elements make a successful resource box.

This one has been my weakest area, because for each article I may have a different action I want the reader to take, so I have to think about what I really want, and then ask it in an enticing way so I get the click. That is not so easy!

In fact I’d love to hear more comments on better ways to get clicks from the resource box of your articles.

I personally feel that if your invitation is compelling in the resource box, it makes the conversion to a sale MUCH easier.
