Eduard asks: “My problem is, that I have a bad open rate after sending my emails to my list, how do I fix this?“
Hey Eduard,
Your open rate is determined by a few factors
- Your sender name – if people know, like, and trust you they tend to look for your emails in their inbox
- The email address you send from – if you are sending from your own domain name instead of Gmail or Yahoo, Hotmail etc you will get better deliverability.
- What autoresponder you are using – some autoresponders/email service providers do a very bad job at getting your emails delivered.
- Your subject line – are you mailing your list what they signed up for? i.e. If someone signed up for weight loss tips but you decided to send them dog training information they are going to unsubscribe.
- Relationship – have you tried to build a relationship with your subscribers? There are a few things you can do to really stand out from the crowd. 1 on 1 help and personal thank you calls/videos to new customers will really make you a leader in their eyes and people want to follow leaders.
- Get your list to email you – I love asking my list to email me in exchange for free gifts. This is a fantastic way to make sure your emails land in their inbox instead of their promotions tab because when they are emailing you their email service will think you have some sort of personal relationship and treat your emails with more importance.
- How often you mail them – if you consistently mailing your subscribers content they enjoy they will keep opening, however if you go a few weeks and not email them they can easily forget about it.
- Your lead source – if someone has bought a product from you and is happy with it they are much more likely to open other emails from you versus someone who has forgotten how they joined your list
- Uniqueness – it’s hard to get your emails delivered if you are just copying and pasting the same email swipe that everyone else is using. Email providers are getting smart and realizing that it’s very spammy.
- Give them a reason to open – are you just another copy cat marketer or do you have a real reason for them to listen to you? Interview people, provide reviews, give out bonuses for buying etc…
I hope those tips help you improve your deliverability,
Reed Floren
