Affiliate Marketing Tips

Whatever you have heard about affiliate marketing, money does cross your palm without having to work for it.

Let’s face it – it is not possible for everyone involved to earn between five and ten thousand dollars each month due to the fact that there is simply too much competition around.

Bearing this is mind; you will find extremely useful tips listed below as far as making money on the Internet using affiliate marketing programs is concerned.

1. Using Google and Yahoo

The days of free traffic are not totally over but they are fast becoming a thing of the past and creating a web page which will score well in the search engines often presents quite a difficult task.

By paying per click with Google and Yahoo, the top three positions on the most important search engines can be yours.  If generating traffic from Yahoo is what you are after, all you have to do is make sure you appear at the top of Google.

2.  Your Own Email List

Rather than sending traffic away and crossing your fingers it is advisable to put out multiple offers to your own email list.  A residual income can be achieved by using this method of building up your business.

3.  Your Own Affiliate Program

If, for example, you were aware that each form filled out on your website produces .50 cents, how keen would you be to pay someone .25 cents to do the same job of generating traffic to your site for you?  This method of using others to attract traffic on your behalf is the most overlooked method, yet it is so useful.

One way or another, paying for traffic is unavoidable and investing wisely in advertising is necessary to secure a good income.

    I’ve never thought of having my own affiliate program Reed because my CPA networks are doing so well. Maybe that will be something I tackle in 2009.

    Reed,
    I could not agree more, free traffic (targeted)
    is very hard to come by these days.
    PPC is the way to go, and a good affiliate program doesn’t hurt.

    Hi Reed,

    Thanks for visiting my blog, appreciate it.

    Back to your article, I have to say that these are three great points.

    But the point number 2 is crucial because one of the biggest mistakes most affiliate marketers make, over all when they are starting out is that they send traffic directly to the merchant site.

    If you don’t build a list of prospects and customers you’ll have a hard time trying to make a huge amount of money.

    Let’s say that someone buys through your affiliate link but you didn’t capture his name and email, how do you offer this person another related product? There is no way.

    The money is in your customers. If someone bought from you and he is happy with what he got, then you can contact him again with another offer and probably he will buy again.

    It is a very important principle of marketing… You need a list of customers and you need to stay in touch with them.

    How do you build a list?

    You can use the traditional method, you put up a squeeze page where you give away something of value (free report, audio, video, etc) and you ask for the contact information in exchange.

    How do you drive traffic?

    There are many ways, but just to give you one you can use Giveaways events. By the way Reed is now holding one.

    Thanks,

    Interesting post, thanks Reed!

    Traffic generation can be a real chore sometimes. Many I.M.’s that I know admit to buying traffic packages (lazer-targeted) to get their sites rocking!

    I, however, choose other methods to kick start my affiliate marketing campaigns. Perhaps I am lucky, but I know a very friendly and hugely influential contact on mega site Digg.com (not Mr Rose in case you were wondering).

    A quiet word in his ear and a polite request for him to ‘digg’ and ‘shout’ my chosen article and ‘here comes the cavalry!’ Nothing like making the front page of Digg.com! Hang on Poidner! Yee Hah!

    Best to you and the family Reed!

    Regards,
    Dave.

    @Teases I highly recommend you do your own affiliate program

    @Larry the best “free” traffic for me has been affiliates/JVs

    @PV you’ve got some great tips; we should have you as a guest blogger sometime shoot me an email reedfloren AT gmail.com

    @Delords I still believe JV’s and affiliates is the best way but pay per click can be very nice

    @Greg your site looks very nice, keep up the great work

    @Thomas you’re welcome

    @Kenny thanks

    @Wayne can we cut back the self promotion just a bit? 4 links back is a bit much

    @David very interesting nice to see that you are networking with people at Digg

    @Ari Keyword research can help but for me the easiest way to make that has been to become an expert at a topic, connect with others and get them to build you a list so you can market to over and over again

    @2ask do you have a link for that post?

    @Damji and Gingi thank you

    @topwebbusinesses and Bruno thanks for the trackbacks

    One of the most beneficial ways to drive targeted traffic is consistent article marketing. The cost in dollars is minimal but the cost in time can be daunting for those who are not used to writing articles on a regular basis.
    There are three great reasons to use article marketing: quality back links from high traffic websites, great placement in the search engines for your articles and quality targeted prospects with high conversion rates. You’ll need to spend most of your time on marketing to make money. More time marketing, more money.

    My own personal experience has been that I do much better focusing on getting organic search engine traffic than spending on PPC… I always end up spending too much money and not getting much traffic.

    So; by spending the time getting my websites to rank in the search engines, I save money and eventually get a lot more traffic.

    @Dennis “more time marketing more money”, I like it

    @Jussi no it’s not 99% of my traffic comes from joint ventures and my list

    @Jorge that’s good, maybe you can give out some of your SEO tips in an article?
