How to Manage Your Time & Behavior to Better Manage Stress

Pressures and stress are what we usually suffer from when we fail to complete a workload at the scheduled time.  Imagine those piles of reports and heap of activities welcoming you each morning at your office table.  And when the day ends, you are still undone with them.

Stress is a normal event in the regular routine of responsibilities.  Although this is an unavoidable part of the daily life, we can develop systems and methods to reduce stress and create a more relaxed atmosphere.

Proper time management, this is the most essential cleverness that an eventful person should master.  It would not only facilitate the right scheduling of tasks to reduce stress but it would also provide extra time to spend for the family and friends.

To improve your time management, study the following concept:

* Proper focus, concentration, delegation of duties, and right time scheduling will save your time.

* Make a journal of your daily schedule starting from your morning habits, to your work routine, to your personal interactions, and to your leisure activities.

* Analyze what is important in your daily task and prioritize those that need an urgent attention.

* Make the most important and focal tasks your basis for commitments.

* Organize your projects by splitting the bigger project into smaller ones and set a quick-fix limit.

* Avoid inconsistency and conflict among job and beliefs by considering your values in life.

Develop a system that would help you cope from stress.  Strategies and other alternatives would be useful to help you cope up from any stress.  The best way to develop a system for coping strategies is by recording the stress and by noting down every detail of stressful events, your response to it, and what you did to cope up from it.  Using these data, you can make an adjustment on the strategies and improve those that were helpful.

Behavior, lifestyle, and discipline are among the factors that influence the degree and reduction of stress.  To better improve yourself when coping with stress, try the following guidelines:

* Balance your time for work, family obligations, and personal affairs.

* Make your life purposeful.

* Give yourself a good recovery from stress by sleeping soundly.

* Healthy and nourished body can fight stress naturally so make sure you eat a healthy and balanced diet.

* A regular exercise will help condition your body, as well as your mental aspects.

* Alcoholic drinks will further increase your stress so try to reduce intake of it.

* Avoid first hand and second hand smoke.

Another factor that affects the reduction of stress is the social support you receive from family, friends, and the community.  The thought that there are people who love you and care for you encourages you to become stress tolerant and flexible.  Social support also develops your self-esteem and improves your mental, emotional, and physical health.

Stressful events can spark off destructive thoughts such as fear, insecurity, anxiety, depression, rage, guilt, and a sense of worthlessness or powerlessness. This is how negative thoughts affect your emotions and eventually initiate body’s stress.  It will be an advantage in favor of you if you will learn how to deal your negative thoughts.  Once you know how to deal those thoughts, you will no longer be affected by stressful events.  Here are some of the guidelines to help you deal with your negative and destructive thoughts:

* Stop yourself from thinking negative thoughts and help eliminate stress.

* Forbid yourself from over-reacting to stressful events and disregard irrational thoughts.  Overstatement of negative thoughts, expectations of worst events, and misinterpretation of incidence should be avoided to shun the occurrence of stress.

* Get to the bottom of the problem and distinguish the details of stressful events.  Once you classified certain stress you can make an action to deal with it.

* Make yourself clear when corresponding to others so that your opinions would sound as simple and plain as possible.  This way your subordinates would not feel intimidated or confused and the development of stress for you and for others would be reduced.

Every one of us shares our own experiences of stress in our daily struggles and responsibilities.  No matter how great your tasks are or how plain your duties are, each and every individual would not want having stress as something that further harden the workload.  Time management, proper behavior and lifestyles, and optimism are the most vital system we can ever construct to take away stress and bring about a more relaxed environment.

Hey Reed, I have learned over the years to control stress in my peraonal and business life. I plan my day and focus on that plan. Sure things always come up, but I have found that just take them, one stress at a time and deal with it. Stress is only as big as you make it. We all need to learn that stress is always going to be there, but we need to learn how to deal with it. Put the stress factor into your plan for the day and just say “bring it on” I’m ready. Anyway that is how I handle it. Goodness! I didn’t mean to preach. Thanks Anna

Stress occur when we fail to execute what was plan, and to be honest we don’t have to get stressed, since we are not God, we can only plan, and during the process time something in between might happen and all we have to do is just redirect the whole thing and make it back to the original course, if you watch a movie ” Chaos”, starr by Jason Statham and Wesley Snipes, I am pretty sure you know what I mean

    Hallo Reed,
Stress does not occur if yourself does not expecting something and You MUST have always a plan b since Murphy is everywhere. We all are depending on influences which we may turn to the best but nearly 85% are made by ourself. We survive and after any positive or negative experiences we smile.
Always think positive and don’t expect something, Stress is in no way something to consider.
To all who have stress to celebrate the best Christmas ever, may God bless you.

I consider social support very important and a lack of it to be one of the main reasons many people experience and fail to advance and being successful.
Human isolation, solitude, lack of family and close friends supports, make that many can’t find an *output* from magic circle they reside.
Unemployment or bad financial situation get people being at nonplus.

I understand advices you have shared here, importance of positive Mental attitude, ablation of negative thoughts and the rest you mentioned above. If you in your country have good Social serves to be of help to all people in need ,then and only then every one can foment hope of getting some real results.

Stress comes when one tries to accomplish a task that is important and URGENT. When this happens, one is always is a crisis situation.

Make it habit to avoid this. Perform your tasks when you find them important but not urgent. That means do not wait for the eleventh hour before you do them. Do them way ahead of time as close to the time when you receive the assignment. That way you give yourself enough time, doing them in a more relaxed manner.

    great post.
Staying focused is very difficult while working in the Internet Markeing world. There’s always something to distract you.

It can be stressful because at the end of the day you have not accomplished much. Make a list and prioritize it and try to stick to it. Check your email only at predefined times or you’ll get distracted again.

The more you get done from your list the less stressed you’ll feel at the end of the day.

Interesting and useful ideas here Reed. I use to work in a high stress, high-powered job adn many of your techniques really helped to reduce the load. Last year I travelled in Africa and saw people living lives that should REALLY make them stressed. And I saw them living these lives with a smile. And that makes me ask myself, what do I really have to be stressed about?

I have a very powerful image in my head, now and forever, of a homeless boy in Addis Ababa, probably about 11 years old, sitting in the dawn light beside a small fire that was burning street rubbish. He was sitting outside a church where people walked past him without a second glance. He had no shoes and the autum air was chill. He had tear tracks through the dirt in his face. But he also had the biggest smile as he warmed his hands.

I don’t think it’s about not knowing anything different – I think it’s about attitude. The one thing in your life, no matter the situation, that you can choose, is your attitude. You may not be able to choose what happens to you but you can choose how to react to it. For now and for always I remember a nameless child and choose the positive, and smile.

    Thanks Reed

Instead I ought to be planning and looking at the Big Picture: Developments with Social Bookmarking and networks, with SEO and getting expert training. I heard that stress sometimes means you are STRETCHING and Expanding to cope with more stuff. You adapt the hard way when stressed, instead of getting extra affiliate education and more advanced KNOW HOW.. try StomperNet my buddies. Simpleology is useful for daily task planning. Soon after I took a Dale Carnegie course and applied the principles to my life and I am now able to cope with any situation that arise. Hey, Reed,

Definitely one of the best ways I’ve found to manage my time and stress level is to use a very simple word: “No!” Sometimes we take on so much and end up stressing ourselves out and not accomplishing anything particularly well. Usually almost all of these activities are worthwhile, we just can’t possibly do them all.

    Happy New Year!
